The Montessori School of Manhattan Beach was founded by Judy Ernst in 1968. She attended elementary and middle school in Manhattan Beach graduating from Mira Costa High School. Upon graduation from Mira Costa, Judy received a scholarship from a local Manhattan Beach organization which helped her to attend U.C.L.A.

The Montessori School began with one class of 20 children at 315 South Peck Avenue. Today we proudly serve over 500 children at two campuses in Manhattan Beach and a third campus in Rancho Palos Verdes. It has always been her wish to give back to the community. One of the main reasons she started the Montessori Education Foundation of the South Bay, is to offer scholarships to help Montessori alumni attend college.

With your support, the foundation will help achieve this vision. For her, the foundation is truly a dream come true.

The Montessori Education Foundation of the South Bay is a non-profit organization established to facilitate parents and community members to assist in the advancement and development of curriculum, college scholarships and development of the Montessori School of Manhattan Beach and their alumnae through tax deductible donations.

Mission Statement

The Montessori Educational Foundation of the South Bay’s mission is to:

ENHANCE - the educational experience at MSMB by providing state-of-the-art equipment and a facility which will provide integrated educational opportunities to our students, faculty, staff and the community through continuous fund raising.

ENRICH - students, teachers, administrators and community by providing programs with the highest quality of service.

PROMOTE - excellence in education with the means to act as community leaders in teacher training, curriculum development and dissemination of information and research on integrating the Montessori into our community.

PROVIDE - funds for school expansion, equipment and materials purchase, college scholarships for alumni students, endowments, special events and more, through fundraising events, grant applications, and capital campaigns.

SERVE – our community by providing a rich learning environment for children, parents, and teachers in the South Bay.

SUPPORT – programs that instill a positive self concept and self esteem in children.

SUPPORT – and facilitate the development of strong families.
