The Montessori School of Manhattan Beach PTO (MSMB-PTO) Mission
The mission of the MSMB PTO is to enrich the children's experience at Montessori Schools of Manhattan Beach (Peck and Bell campuses) through collaboration between parents, teachers and school administration

This mission is accomplished by creating an infrastructure that augments the school's pre-planned and sponsored activities by providing:

  1. Activities and information for parent education.
  2. Activities that allow children and parents to demonstrate teacher appreciation.
  3. Activities that promote community.
  4. Activities and materials specifically aimed at enhancing the children's classroom or educational experience.
  5. Enhanced communication between all interested parties.
  6. Funds to support 1 thru 5, as necessary.
  7. Ways for all families to participate and become members of the PTO.

The Montessori School of Manhattan Beach Parent Teacher Organization (MSMB PTO) is a group of interested parents who supplement and support the programs the school offers. Although we are only 3 years old, the parents who support the MSMB PTO and volunteer bring the following to the school:

Enrichment activities in the children’s classrooms:

• Annie’s Plants
• Art 2 Grow On
• Bug Mobile from Children’s Nature Institute
• Dentist visits
• Earth & Moon Space Program

• Firemen visits
• J. Valentine’s Reptile and Animals
• Mariachi Band
• Nutritionist visits
• Ocean Adventures the Cabrillo Ocean Museum

• Policemen visits
• Resource Boxes for the School on Nutrition, Tolerance, The Human Body

Other Activities to Enhance the School Experience and Build Community:

• Adventure Plex evening
• Back to School Picnic
• Charity/toy drive around the holidays
• Material Making days to help the teachers

• Parent Education evenings on Montessori Concepts, Making the Transition from Montessori, and other educational topics
• Read-a-thon

• School Carnival
• Videotaping each classes’ Spring Sing performance
• Teacher Appreciation activities

Please become a part of these efforts by joining the MSMB PTO. Benefits of membership include:

• Meeting other parents
• Becoming more active in your child’s education
• Helping to fund PTO programs
• Staying informed

Membership dues cover September to September, so if you joined last year, please renew for the new year (2005-2006). Dues are $10 per family, but additional contributions to fund programs are always appreciated.

We always welcome individuals who would like to help out and always welcome your thoughts and opinions. Please remember that all parents and children are welcome at PTO functions, regardless of whether they are members.
